Ernest Morgan, Age 20
Private, 15033, 1/6th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment, 39th Division, 118th Brigade.
Ernest was the son of Mr J Morgan of 1 Woodhouse Lane, Horsehay. Before he had enlisted Ernest had worked at the Horsehay Works and had originally enlisted into the KSLI (3172) before being transferred to the Cheshire Regiment.
He died of wounds on January 23rd 1917 at No.17 CCS after receiving gunshot wounds to his right shoulder and buttocks and lies buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in grave X.D.31.
A memorial service for Ernest was held at St Luke’s Church Doseley on July 29th 1917

Ernest’s father Mr John Morgan in the 1891 census was living with his wife Mrs Sarah
Morgan at Woodhouse Lane Horsehay, Ernest’s mother Sarah died in June 1899.
His brother Frederick also joined the King's Shropshire Light Infantry 3173 and later moved to the Cheshire Regiment 15034 and 267844, Frederick survived the war, he was discharged on 25 Feb 1919.
